Prof. Dr. Pasquale Pistone is the Academic Chairman of IBFD. He holds a Jean Monnet ad personam Chair in European Tax Law and Policy at WU Vienna University of Economics and Business (Austria) and is Associate Professor of Tax Law at the University of Salerno (Italy). His main fields of expertise are European and international tax law, in which he is regarded as a top academic expert in various parts of the world.
Adjunct Academic Chairman
Prof. Jan de Goede is Senior Principal, Tax Knowledge Management, reporting to the CEO of IBFD. He previously held several management positions at IBFD, lastly the position of Director of the IBFD Knowledge Centre. Besides his responsibilities for tax knowledge management, he also performs many academic, teaching and government consultancy activities.
Dr. Joanna C. Wheeler is Senior Principal Associate at the IBFD Academic Department. Previously, she served as editor of many different IBFD publications and as the founding editor of IBFD’s database on trusts. Ms Wheeler pioneered IBFD's programme of online courses; before that, she designed a number of classroom courses and taught regularly in classroom courses for IBFD's International Tax Training.

Ruth Mason joined the University of Virginia School of Law faculty in the 2013 autumn semester as a professor of law. Prior to joining the law school, she was the Anthony J. Smits Professor of Global Commerce at the University of Connecticut School of Law. Prof. Mason has also been a visiting professor at Johannes Kepler University, Leiden University, Université Paris 1 (Panthéon Sorbonne) and Yale Law School.
Prof. Dr. Betty Andrade Rodríguez
is Managing Editor of the Global Tax Treaty Commentaries (GTTC) and Scientific Coordinator of the Observatory on the Protection of Taxpayers’ Rights (OPTR). She obtained her law degree summa cum laude from Andrés Bello Catholic University, in Caracas, and holds an LLM and a PhD in Law from the Central University of Venezuela. From 2016-2017, she was a postdoctoral research fellow at IBFD.
Dr. Alessandro Turina is a senior research associate at IBFD, where he focuses on international and European tax law. He holds a PhD in International Tax Law from Bocconi University (Milan, Italy), where he has also been a research and teaching associate.
Prof. Dr. Carlos E. Weffe
is Managing Editor of the Global Tax Treaty Commentaries (GTTC) and Scientific Coordinator of the Observatory on the Protection of Taxpayers’ Rights (OPTR). He obtained his law degree from Andrés Bello Catholic University, in Caracas, and holds an LLM in Tax Law and a PhD in Law from the Central University of Venezuela. Prof. Dr. Craig West
is managing editor of the World Tax Journal at IBFD. He is an Associate Professor at the University of Cape Town, and his areas of expertise are international and South African income tax, in which he has published a number of articles and chapters.

Dr. Svetislav V. Kostić
is a postdoctoral research fellow at IBFD, where he focuses on tax treaty issues. He is also a docent at the University of Belgrade Law School (in the Tax Law and International Tax Treaty Law courses), teaching at both undergraduate and master’s levels.
Dr. Tarcísio Diniz Magalhães
is a postdoctoral research fellow at IBFD. He holds a doctoral and master’s degree in Law and Justice (Tax Law), both obtained at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), under full scholarships. He received his Bachelor of Laws with honours, under a partial scholarship, also from UFMG
Prof. Dr. Luís Flávio Neto
is a postdoctoral research fellow at IBFD. He is also a professor at the Instituto Brasileiro de Direito Tributário (IBDT) in Brazil, where he has taught international and Brazilian taxation courses. He has also taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the Universidade São Judas Tadeu in Brazil, as well as several other academic institutions as a visiting professor
Dr. Leopoldo Parada
is a postdoctoral research fellow at IBFD, where he focuses on several issues in international and European tax law. He is also a visiting professor of International Tax Law at the School of Management and Economics of the University of Turin (Italy) and a former research associate at the Max Planck Institute for Tax Law and Public Finance (Munich, Germany).
Dr. Jan Karol Szczepański
is a postdoctoral research fellow at IBFD, where he focuses on several issues in international and European tax law. He holds a doctoral degree in Law (summa cum laude
) from Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznań (Poland), and a classical Master’s in Law (summa cum laude
) from the same university.
Yolanda Arbon is a Project Coordinator at IBFD Academic. Previously, Ms Arbon worked for 7 years as the Executive Secretary at IBFD. In this role, Ms Arbon was the first point of contact for the members of the Executive Board. She was also responsible for providing support to the Board of Trustees.
Adina Moldovan is a project coordinator of the Academic Team. She is fluent in four European languages and has a basic knowledge of a fifth. Ms Moldovan holds a master’s degree in Management from Università della Svizzera italiana of Lugano, Switzerland (2013), and a master’s degree in International Trade (2005) from the Babes-Bolyai University of Cluj, Romania.
Cristian San Felipe Maestre is a Project Coordinator at IBFD Academic responsible for the executive aspects of all IBFD Academic publications, namely the Global Tax Treaties Commentaries collection, the World Tax Journal and the Academic Books Series. He is also responsible for the Observatory on the Protection of Taxpayers’ Rights.
Maro Tyfoxylou is a project coordinator for academic research and also provides support for the IBFD/UVA advanced master's programme in international taxation. She holds a master's degree in Education from the Hellenic Open University, Greece (2012). She is fluent in three European languages and has an excellent knowledge of two others. Prior to joining the IBFD Academic Team, Ms Tyfoxylou worked as a project manager for 12 years and was also an oral examiner for the Greek National Foreign Language Exam System.
Dina Justo is the Administrative Assistant of the Academic Team. She holds a Management degree from Universidade Aberta, Portugal. She is fluent in two European languages with basic knowledge of two others. Prior to joining the IBFD Academic Team, she worked for 8 years as Administrative Assistant in a major telecom company in Portugal, providing support to the sales department.
