IBFD at the OECD Global Forum on VAT 2026
From 26–28 January 2026, IBFD was proud to participate in the OECD Global Forum on VAT, a leading international platform bringing together policymakers, tax administrations, academics and industry experts to discuss the most pressing developments in indirect taxation.

This year, Fabiola Annacondia and Laura Alarcón Díaz took the stage representing IBFD as speakers in two of the Forum’s specialised breakout sessions with the following topics:
VAT/GST and the Sharing/Gig Economy: Policy Responses – Emerging Models
Speaker: Fabiola Annacondia
Fabiola shared insights on the VAT/GST implications of platform-based activities and emerging business models, highlighting global policy trends in Latin America and implementation challenges.VAT/GST and the Crypto Economy
Speaker: Laura Alarcón Díaz
Laura contributed to the global conversation on the VAT/GST treatment of crypto-assets, addressing regulatory developments, complexities of taxing rapidly evolving digital ecosystems and challenges which the crypto-asset economy can pose for VAT frameworks.
Their participation reflects IBFD’s ongoing commitment to advancing high-quality, independent research and contributing expertise to global tax dialogue.
We thank Fabiola and Laura for representing IBFD on the international stage and showcasing thought leadership on two of today’s most dynamic areas of VAT/GST policy.
