Rights & Permissions
Last updated: April 2026
Reusing (portions of) previously published text or illustrations in new publications or courses is common practice, but this is only allowed with the permission of the copyright owner. Our dedicated Rights & Permissions team handles all permission requests and inquiries regarding reproduction of IBFD material.
Reproduction of IBFD publications
Reuse of a work by its author(s)
We recognize that, as an author, you want your work to get maximum exposure among your colleagues and other researchers in your field. At IBFD, we aim to strike a fair balance between your needs as an author and the rights we require to disseminate your work as widely as possible.
Your usage rights as an IBFD author are laid out in your publishing agreement. If you have any questions about how you may reuse your work, please contact the Rights & Permissions team.
IBFD supports Green Open Access (self-archiving) for certain subscription-based publications. You can find detailed information about your self-archiving options in our Self-Archiving Policy.
If you wish to reuse your work in a way that is not covered by your retained rights or by IBFD’s self-archiving policy, please submit a permission request.
Note: If a work has multiple authors, it will be assumed that any permission request is submitted on behalf of all co-authors. It is the responsibility of the requesting author to ensure that all co-authors are informed of the request and of any permissions granted or denied.
Reuse of IBFD material by clients and other third parties
Any reuse of IBFD-copyrighted material, such as text, tables, figures, videos and API’s, requires prior written permission from IBFD.
If you are an IBFD client, you will find information on permitted uses in your subscription or license agreement and/or in IBFD’s Terms of Use. If you wish to reuse IBFD-copyrighted material for purposes beyond those covered by your agreement, you must submit a permission request. Inquiries regarding reuse of the licensed content may be addressed to the Rights & Permissions team.
Third parties who are not IBFD clients must always submit a permission request. This also applies to IBFD authors who wish to reuse works authored by others.
Reuse of third-party material published by IBFD
IBFD has various partnerships with other information providers and organizations for reproduction of their copyrighted material, as well as (co-)publication agreements with publishing houses and international associations. In some cases, the author(s) may have retained copyright to their work (for example, in Open Access publications).
If you wish to reuse material that is published by IBFD, but to which IBFD does not hold copyright, you must contact the copyright owner(s) directly to request their permission. IBFD does not mediate such requests. It is entirely up to the copyright owner(s) to decide whether to grant permission and under which conditions. Requests to reproduce material for which IBFD co-owns copyright may be submitted to us directly.
For works published under the Open Access model, permitted uses are defined by the Creative Commons (CC) license attached to the publication. All Creative Commons licenses require attribution, i.e. giving credit to the creator or licensor. Ideally, attribution includes (1) the title of the work, (2) the name(s) of the author(s), (3) a link to the original source, (4) the type of CC license, and (5) a link to the CC license.
Note that attribution should not be given in any way that suggests that the author(s) or IBFD endorse the user or their use of the work.
Use of the IBFD logo
The IBFD logo is a registered trademark. It may not be used, reproduced, or modified in any form without prior written consent from IBFD. Requests for permission to use the IBFD logo should be sent to the Rights & Permissions team.
Translations
We welcome requests to translate our English-language publications, as this helps broaden their reach and readership.
As contractual terms for translation rights may vary depending on several factors, each request is assessed on a case-by-case basis. Please direct your translation requests to the Rights & Permissions team.
The author(s) of the original publication will always be apprised of any permission granted for the translation of their work.
Submitting a permission request
Requests to reuse IBFD content are processed through PLSclear. Please visit www.plsclear.com to complete your permission request, or directly search for any title using the PLSclear search bar on this page. To ensure accurate results, we recommend searching by ISBN or ISSN where possible. Please avoid submitting duplicate requests.
Before submitting your request, please check the copyright page or rights information section of the publication to confirm we are the rights holder. In some cases, we may not hold the rights to the material you wish to reuse.
Should you need assistance, please visit the help portal on the PLSclear website for a checklist, step-by-step guide, and a video guide.
For questions specific to your request, please contact us at IBFD Rights & Permissions.
