As a result of the 2006 decision of the European Court of Justice in Cadbury Schweppes, Sweden amended its CFC regime, effective 1 January 2008, to bring it into compliance with EC law. By way of background, this article briefly presents Sweden's old CFC regime and the Cadbury Schweppes decision. The article then describes the new CFC rules and comments on their application and interpretation. The article also touches on Sweden's CFC regime regarding its applicability vis-à-vis countries outside the European Economic Area.
