The Study Group on Asian Tax Administration and Research, or popularly known as SGATAR was formed in 1970 by like-minded tax administrators as a means to share ideas and experience. The group functions without a formal structure but impressively, has grown to encompass 12 countries from the region who take turns to host annual meetings.
