New Documentation Rules: More of the Same?

Japan’s Ministry of Finance recently released revisions to the transfer pricing law and regulations to directly address what supporting material taxpayers will be requested to submit in an examination. In practical terms, the new rules make no significant change in the recommended steps for taxpayers in Japan, although they do make the expectations of the tax authorities more explicit and the need for documentation clearer.
