The ECJ rendered its decision in the AMID case on 14 December 1999 on the interpretation of Art. 52 (now, after amendment, Art. 43) of the EC Treaty. This article discusses the implications of the AMID decision for Belgian companies that have branches or subsidiaries in other EU Member States.
