Speaking with Forbes, Zorka was posed the question “What was the best tax conference, continuing education (CE), or continuing legal education (CLE) event that you ever attended?” by Kelly Phillips Erb, a senior writer at Forbes. Zorka replied; “International tax conferences often take place in fun, far-flung locales, but actually, my favorite is the smallish event put on by the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation (IBFD) and Caplin & Drysdale in Washington, DC in mid-December, right before the big IRS international tax conference. There are always lively debates, with a great mix of perspectives from different parts of the world, and a nice cozy feel, coming right before the holidays.”

About the IBFD North America and Caplin & Drysdale International Tax Conference

We have hosted our international tax conference in partnership with Caplin & Drysdale in the years 2024 and 2023, an in-person event that addresses timely and complex cross-border tax issues, such as ‘Making Sense of DSTs’, ‘Taxing the Wealthy’, ‘Can Europe and the United States Bridge Conflicts in Setting International Tax Policy?’ and more.

With dynamic panel discussions and a casual networking reception, the conference offers valuable insights and fosters meaningful connections within the international tax community. This initiative reflects IBFD and Caplin & Drysdale’s ongoing commitment to thought leadership and strengthens our brand presence across the Americas.

Registration is open now

Until now, the conference has been scheduled ahead of the GWU and IRS Annual Institute on Current Issues in International Taxation conference, which usually occurs in December. However, as the GWU and IRS won’t be hosting their conference this year, we will be hosting our event on 29 January 2026.

This year’s theme is “Planning for an AI Future in Cross-Border Tax Administration” and you can already register here.
