IBFD Dialogues Seminar at IFA Melbourne 2026
We are pleased to invite you to our IBFD Dialogues Seminar, taking place on 19th October, IFA Congress in Melbourne, Australia. For this special event, esteemed panellists will gather in-person to discuss 'The Impact of Public International Law on International Tax Law '.
IBFD’s Dialogues on International Taxation Seminar at IFA Melbourne will explore the growing interaction between public international law and international tax law, and its implications for the development of the global tax framework. In line with the doctrine of systemic integration, the general principles of international law apply to international tax law with important implications for treaty interpretation, dispute resolution, and state responsibility. Understanding this interplay is essential for academics, policymakers and practitioners.
The presentations by experienced international speakers will focus on selected technical issues, providing concrete insights into how public international law shapes tax treaty interpretation and the resolution of international tax-related disputes. The dialogues within the panel on those topics will provide an important contribution to show concrete elements of convergence between these two fields.
The IBFD Dialogues are therefore a valuable in-depth supplement to the IFA seminars, offering participants a comprehensive understanding of technical issues combined with a broader perspective on tax sovereignty and global coordination in an increasingly interconnected legal landscape.
