Patricia A. Brown Appointed as Eighth IBFD Professor in Residence Jan-08-2020

IBFD is pleased to announce that it has named Patricia A. Brown from the University of Miami School of Law (United States) as its 2020 Professor in Residence. Prof. Brown currently serves as the Director of the Graduate Programs in Taxation and Taxation of Cross-Border Investment at the University of Miami School of Law.

Patricia A. Brown will be the successor of Diane Ring (United States), who was IBFD’s Professor in Residence last year. Other previous IBFD Professors in Residence were Ruth Mason (2018) (United States), Luis Eduardo Schoueri (2017) (Brazil), Reuven Avi-Yonah (2016) (United States), Stephen Shay (2015) (United States), Yariv Brauner (2014) (United States) and Richard Vann (2013) (Australia).

“We have had the pleasure of cooperating with Patricia Brown on tax treaties for several years. Her willingness to become the 8th IBFD professor-in-residence will further strengthen our synergies and make it possible to explore new avenues for cooperation also with the University of Miami on international tax law”, said Prof. Dr Pasquale Pistone, the Academic Chairman of IBFD.

“It is an honor to join the distinguished academics who have previously been professors-in-residence at IBFD. I’m looking forward to pursuing several projects where the unparalleled resources of IBFD – which has both country and subject matter experts and, of course, the fabulous library – will allow me to make real progress this year!”, said Prof. Brown.

Prof. Brown’s primary fields of expertise are in the interpretation of tax treaties, the international taxation of financial institutions and financial products and cross-border taxation of pensions and pension funds.
