Vanessa Arruda Ferreira is Principal Associate for the Latin America Knowledge Group. She is the chief editor for Latin America and an instructor for IBFD International Tax Training, and she is currently concluding her PhD at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on the topic of improper use of tax treaties by contracting states.
Ms Arruda Ferreira is a Brazilian attorney, with a law degree from Universidade Católica de Pernambuco, Recife, Brazil (2003). She holds a postgraduate specialization degree in public law from Escola Superior de Magistratura de Pernambuco, Recife, Brazil (2006), and a master's degree in tax law (LLM) from the Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, Paris, France (2007).
Prior to joining IBFD, Ms Arruda Ferreira was a senior associate at the Brazilian law firm Trigueiro Fontes Advogados in Recife, Brazil, where she represented clients before courts in both individual and corporate tax matters. She also worked as a part-time Brazilian tax consultant at the French law firm Arsene Taxand during her LLM studies in Paris. Ms Arruda Ferreira speaks Portuguese, English, French and German, and she has been a member of the Brazilian Bar since 2003.
