Taiwo Oyedele

Mr Taiwo Oyedele is an author, a public speaker and thought leader on tax, business, governance and economic matters. He is a member of the ministerial committee on the implementation of Nigeria’s National Tax Policy and was a member of the Working Group on Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration Scheme. He is a contributor to the World Bank’s annual Doing Business report, which compares the relative ease of doing business in 190 economies worldwide.

He writes articles in leading national newspapers, professional journals, international magazines and newsletters. He provides insights on contemporary issues through the media including press releases and TV interviews with Channels TV, Silverbird TV, NTA, TV Continental, and CNBC Africa among others. He is a guest writer of the columns titled “Tax Bites” in BusinessDay and “Tax Watch” in the Guardian newspaper. He runs a tax blog with over 20,000 followers in more than 25 countries.

He is the author of “the Top 50 Tax Issues in Nigeria”; “Insights on Taxation and Fiscal Policy”; and also the Nigeria Transfer Pricing chapter of the International Bureau of Fiscal Documentation (IBFD) publication. He provided input to and played a significant role in the drafting of the first Transfer Pricing Regulations in Nigeria.

Mr Oyedele is a fellow of the Nigeria Leadership Initiative and a member of the Corporate Governance Society Nigeria. He is the Chairman of the Taxation & Fiscal Policy Management Board of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), member of the Nigeria Taxation Standards Board, and previously served on the ACCA Global Governing Council for 6 years. He is the Coordinator of the Taxation Working Group of the Nigeria Economic Summit Group and National Assembly’s joint initiative on the Business Environment Review (NASSBER). He is also a member of the PwC Global Board for Leadership Development.

Mr Oyedele is an alumnus of the Gordon Institute of Business Science, Yale University and Harvard Kennedy School. He is the founder and president of Impact Africa Foundation and a guest lecturer at the University of Lagos, Babcock University and Lagos Business School.
