Servaas van Thiel
Servaas van Thiel works at the EU Delegation in Vienna (where he has been since 2015), teaches at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (since 1987) and the Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) (since 2016) and occasionally sits in the Regional Court of Appeal in the Netherlands (since 2003). He has published over 140 books and articles and been a guest lecturer worldwide for academic, professional and public sector audiences. He previously worked for the EU Delegation in Geneva, the EU Council of Ministers (Head of the Tax Division) and the European Court of Justice, and was Director of the Brussels LL.M Program (2003-2010). Before joining the European Union, he worked for IBFD and consulted for the Italian Economic and Labour Council, the UN Centre for Trans-National Corporations and the UN Economic Commission for Africa. He studied law and economics at the Universities of Nijmegen and Brussels and he holds a Doctoral Degree from Erasmus University Rotterdam.
