Sebastine Odimma is the Head of Tax Controversy, Africa at MAERSK Transport and Logistics.
He is responsible for tax dispute and resolution for Maersk companies within the Africa region. This extends to South, East, West and North Africa. Until recently, he was responsible for the tax affairs of more than 40 Maersk companies within 20 countries in West and Central Africa. The Maersk companies are involved in the entire global trade value chain, covering shipping, terminal operations and logistics. In his role, he supervised the tax compliance, strategy, optimization and transfer pricing risk assessment of related-party transactions, as well as providing tax advice on any inbound investment into West and Central Africa.
Before joining the Maersk Group, Sebastine spent more than 9 years in KPMG Professional Services in Kenya, Nigeria and Sierra Leone. During his time in Kenya, he was involved in TP studies and reviews of companies in the FMCG and mining. He led teams with regard to reviews of petroleum profits taxes, companies income tax planning & compliance services, withholding tax planning & management, due diligence projects and transfer pricing. He has several years of experience providing advisory opinions on several business options and providing support on big mergers and acquisitions in Nigeria. He has also lectured on oil and gas taxation at Strathmore Business School, Kenya.
Sebastine is a sought after speaker at tax conferences, and at the Tax Administrators Forum. He is also a course facilitator with IBFD in The Netherlands.
