Paolo Piantavigna is also a lecturer and research fellow (since 2009 and 2010, respectively) and tutor (since 2009) in Tax Law at the University of Pavia (Italy) and a lawyer at Chiomenti Studio Legale (Milan Office). He was postdoctoral research fellow at IBFD Academic.
He holds a master’s degree in Tax (2007) and a PhD degree from the University of Milan-Bicocca (2009). His thesis was entitled “Fiscalità e abuso del diritto nell’ordinamento comunitario”. He has done research stays in several prestigious institutions, such as Columbia University Law School and the Max Planck Institute for Intellectual Property, Competition and Tax Law.
He has taught at the University of Pavia and in other academic institutions in Italy. He is regularly invited to present as discussant at conferences and seminars on Italian, International and European Taxation.
His key areas of expertise are domestic tax procedural law and international tax planning. He has written more than 30 articles, among which a monograph study on Tax Abuse in European Union Law, published in 2011.
He is member of the editorial board of “Rivista di diritto finanziario e scienza delle finanze”. He is also member of the IFA, the Italian Bar Association, the Associazione Nazionale Tributaristi Italiani, the Max Planck Alumni Association, Ghislieri College Alumni Association, the Institute for Advanced Study Alumni Association and of the Rotary Foundation Alumni Association.
