Matthijs Alink is a Senior Consultant in the area of tax policy and administration. He is a Board Member of the Advanced Governmental Tax Program (AGTP). As a IBFD associate he provides lectures on tax policy and administration for tax experts from numerous countries.
He is the author of several publications including co-author of the Dutch Approach (IBFD) and the Handbook on Tax Administration (IBFD). Both publications were reviewed and reprinted several times and translated in Spanish, Portuguese, and Chinese.
Mr Alink is also the co-developer of IBFD’s TAx-Ray, a sophisticated comprehensive diagnostic instrument to assess and measure the institutional, strategic and operational ability of Tax Administrations to adequately implement, administer and enforce the tax laws.
Mr Alink is retired from the Ministry of Finance where he served the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration in numerous technical, operational and managerial positions, followed by key strategic positions at the Ministry of Finance where he was responsible for Planning, Finance and Control, Compliance and Taxpayer Service and International Affairs. He also worked as a Senior Advisor at the Centre for Tax Policy and Administration at the OECD in Paris. In that capacity he served as OECD event leader for numerous Tax Policy and Administration technical missions all over the world.
Mr Alink holds a master’s degree in Economics with majors in Public Finance, Taxation Policy and Tax Law from the University of Amsterdam and is a lecturer at the International Tax Academy of China in Yangzhou City.
