Mark Brabazon is Senior Counsel at the Australian Bar and a member of 7 Wentworth Selborne Chambers in Sydney. He practises in international and Australian tax law, equity and commercial law. He took silk in 2008 and has worked as a barrister for over 30 years, advising private and government clients and appearing in courts and tribunals at all levels. His doctoral thesis at the University of Sydney on international taxation of trust income, completed in 2018, is to be published by Cambridge University Press. He has published in tax and general law journals in Australia and internationally. He also chairs the Council of Law Reporting for New South Wales.
Mr Brabazon completed undergraduate degrees in Arts and Law at the University of Queensland. He worked initially as a solicitor and subsequently as a barrister in Queensland. After a period as a legal research officer at the High Court of Australia, he moved to Sydney and returned to the private Bar, where he took silk in 2008. He completed an LLM at the University of Queensland and his doctoral thesis at Sydney while also conducting his law practice.
