Lutando Mvovo is an Executive Head: International Tax at Vodacom. Prior to joining Vodacom, he was a Director responsible for international tax, transfer pricing and tax treaties at the South African National Treasury. He is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa and has over 14 years of international tax experience gained working at KPMG, the National Treasury and Vodacom. His areas of expertise include transfer pricing, tax treaties (including permanent establishment), controlled foreign company rules, international tax planning and tax policy.
Lutando also served as a Deputy Chairperson of the SADC Tax Sub-committee, represented South Africa as an observer to the UN Committee of Tax Experts, and was South Africa’s delegate to the OECD Working Party 1 and Bureau and Ad Hoc Group on BEPS Multilateral Instruments.
Mr Mvovo holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree, a postgraduate Diploma in Corporate Law and a Master’s degree in Tax Law (LLM) from the University of Johannesburg.
