Dick Barmentlo (1961) obtained a Master’s in Law at the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, in 1985 and has been active in tax law and criminal law since then. He is an attorney-at-law admitted to the Amsterdam Bar Association and a tax lawyer/partner at FT-advocaten, a boutique law firm specializing in tax litigation, tax criminal law and tax collection. Prior to joining FT-advocaten in 2015, he worked at two of the big four advisory firms and at the High Tax Court of Amsterdam. He has over 30 years of experience in Dutch and international taxation.
Dick is currently a member of the Dutch Association of Tax Advisors (NOB) and former chairman of its Formal Tax Law Section and a member of NOB’s Professional Affairs Committee. At CFE Tax Advisers Europe (the umbrella organization of 24 national tax adviser organizations from 30 European states, representing more than 200,000 tax advisers), he is a delegate of the General Assembly and a member of the Professional Affairs Committee, after having acted as a member of the Executive Board and chair of the PAC. Dick was a deputy judge at the Higher Tax Court of ‘s-Hertogenbosch from 2003 to 2016. He is chair of the Vereniging van Cassatiespecialisten Belastingkamer (an association of specialists in tax litigation at the Dutch Supreme Court). Dick is a frequent lecturer on formal tax law issues and author and co-author of text books and various articles on procedural tax law.
