Prof. Dr. Craig West is Managing Editor of IBFD's World Tax Journal and of the IBFD Doctoral Series. He is an Associate Professor at the University of Cape Town, and his areas of expertise are international and South African income tax, in which he has published a number of articles and chapters.
He has regularly presented at conferences and seminars on both international and South African taxation and has been appointed as a national reporter for South Africa on several occasions. He holds a PhD from the University of Cape Town (2009) as well as a Master of Commerce in Accounting. He is a Chartered Accountant (SA). Dr West is a member of the international research project Sustainable Tax Governance in Developing Countries through Global Tax Transparency, financed by the Research Council of Norway and also a member of the South African team contributing to the IBFD research on Special Tax Zones.
He has been a visiting researcher at the Institute for Austrian and International Tax Law (WU, Vienna) (2015) and the Fiscal Institute for Taxation (UvT, Tilburg) (2013). He is a member and Secretary General of the South African IFA branch.
