Chijioke Uwaegbute is the Sub-Saharan Africa Tax Director for General Electric (GE). He has over 17 years of experience in tax planning, compliance, cross-border transactions and business process improvement and strategy. In his role, he manages the tax strategy for all GE businesses operating in 17 countries across the region and has been exposed to a variety of tax issues in the region.
Prior to joining GE, he was a Senior Manager with a focus on oil and gas in the tax regulatory and people services division of KPMG where he provided advice on tax structuring and strategy for companies operating in the Nigerian oil and gas industry. He also ran the KPMG Gulf of Guinea tax practice, which covered Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Mali and Nigeria.
Mr Uwaegbute has a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and is a chartered accountant and tax practitioner.
