What can RSS do for you?
Searching the web for international tax information can result in literally billions of web pages. Keeping up to date can cost you a lot of time and effort. RSS (Really Simple Syndication) addresses this problem by enabling you to directly receive the latest developments on a specific topic from chosen sites without having to browse. RSS is a standard text format for content distribution consisting of article headings of new items and links to their texts. Text in RSS format can be updated at regular intervals, thus creating an RSS feed with the latest headlines and articles. In the international tax environment there are currently few websites that support RSS, but this is certain to increase rapidly. IBFD currently uses RSS feeds for its European VAT Directives News and its real-time Tax News Service Headlines.

How can you start using RSS feeds?
To start using RSS feeds you need a news reader. This is a program that automatically scans RSS feeds and delivers them to your desktop as often as you specify. There are different types of readers to choose from, each of them using either a browser or a downloadable application. Browser-based news readers deliver your RSS feed subscriptions to any computer, whereas downloadable applications store them on your main computer, in the same way, for example, as you download your e-mail using Outlook.

Which news reader works for you?
