What is an eBook?
An eBook ("electronic book") is a digital version of a traditional print book. eBooks can be downloaded and read on a variety of electronic devices, including personal computers and mobile devices such as eBook readers and tablets.

IBFD’s eBooks are available in ePub ("electronic publication") format. ePub is currently the industry standard, and works well with most types of software. ePub files allow the user to adjust the size and type of font in order to optimize the text for the particular display device used (e.g. tablet, eBook reader, smartphone).

What is the difference between an Online Book and an eBook?
Both an Online Book and an eBook are digital versions of the traditional print book.

Whereas an Online Book requires Internet access, a user name and a password, an eBook allows you to have immediate access anywhere, anytime once it has been downloaded onto your display device.

Depending on your needs, each format offers its own unique advantages.

Read more about our different book formats.

Where can I buy an IBFD eBook?

IBFD’s eBooks can only be purchased online via IBFD’s Shop. Phone or e-mail purchases are not possible. Due to the digital nature of this product, you can only order eBooks online.

You can order and download the eBook title of your choice directly 24 hours a day.

Please note: As each eBook is personalized linking the file to the person who bought the eBook, resellers cannot buy eBooks on behalf of clients.

Are all IBFD books available as downloadable eBooks?
Currently only a select number of titles are available in eBook format. New eBook titles will be added as they become available. Please check our Shop for our latest eBook titles.

Should you be interested in a specific title in eBook format, please let us know by sending us an email. Please note that not all IBFD book titles will be offered in eBook format, but to better evaluate our clients’ needs your input is valuable to us.

How much does an eBook cost?

The price of an eBook is generally 20% less than the price of the corresponding print edition. The amount of VAT charged is based on your invoice address. Delivery of eBooks via the Internet is considered an “electronically supplied service”, and therefore subject to VAT at the place where the customer is resident.

Miscellaneous

Updated editions

IBFD’s eBooks are not updated automatically. Updated editions of eBook titles can be bought at the regular list price and downloaded following the standard eBook order process. This allows you to build up an archive of (a) particular title(s).

Problems with the display and functionality

In some cases the text and tables may not be displayed correctly. This may be because the selected font size is too big. Try reducing the font size or, if you are using an eBook reader computer application, try adjusting the size of the display window. On tablets and eBook readers, preferably use the 'portrait' display setting.

As regards the reading functionality: depending on the display device you are using, the size of the eBook can impact the ease of readability and functionality, e.g. the ability to search, highlight or take notes.

Play Books Application

When reading an eBook using the Play Books application on the Samsung tablet, lists and quotations can appear in a smaller font size than the regular text. In the application simply tap on the “Aa” button in the top right corner. There “Typeface” should be set to “Default” to make sure all text appears in the same font size.
